The Hawaii Warriors may want to consider taking SEC opponents off their schedule judging by the outcome of their past two games as the #5 Florida Gators delivered a 56-10 beating in their 2008 college football opener. The Warriors were pounded by the Georgia Bulldogs in last year’s Sugar Bowl 41-10.
On Saturday Florida turned to their running game to provide most of their offense as the Gators chewed up 257 yards on the ground.
After failing to score in eth opening quarter the Gators put 28 points on the board in the second as Brandon James scored on a 1-yard run and a 74-yard punt return while Major Wright added a 32-yard interception return for a TD and Chris Rainey scored on a 33-yard burst.
The third quarter didn’t start any better for the Warriors as Jeffrey Demps busted a 62-yard TD run and then quarterback Tim Tebow got in on the action with a 48-yard toss to Louis Murphy to push the score to 42-0.
Hawaii struggled on offense throughout the day as they committed six turnovers in the game.
Florida will play host to the University of Miami next week before having a week off and then facing the Tennessee Volunteers.
