2008 U.S. Open Results: Rafael Nadal Marches into Third Round with Straight Set Win Over Viktor Troicki

Rafael Nadal started slow but finished strong as he continued his pursuit of a third Grand Slam title in 2008 after beating Viktor Troicki in straight sets 6-4, 6-3, 6-0 at the U.S. Open on Saturday.

Nadal, recently elevated to the world’s No. 1 ranked player, once again relied on his ability to play disciplined tennis and allow his opponent to beat himself as Troika committed 38 unforced errors compared to 19 for the Spaniard.

Along with his French Open title and Wimbledon title Nadal added a gold medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics in what has been an amazing year for the 22-year-old. Nadal has won seven Grand Slam titles.
