2008 U.S. Open Results: Jelena Jankovic Presses on to Quarterfinals with Win Over Caroline Wozniacki

Jelena Jankovic pushed on to the 2008 U.S. Open quarterfinals on Sunday and continued her pursuit of her first Grand Slam singles victory after beating a determined Caroline Wozniacki in three sets 3-6, 6-2, 6-1.

Jankovic, the #2 seed at the U.S. Open, started slow as her Dutch counterpart took advantage of the windy conditions to keep the Serb off balance. Things settled down for Jankovic though and took the second set with little trouble and after breaking Wozniacki’s serve in the fourth game of the third set had little trouble finishing the match.

Jankovic reached the semifinals at both the French Open and Australian Open this year. In 2006 she reached the semis at the U.S. Open.
