Japan’s PM Yasuo Fukuda Announces Resignation

Less than one year into his role as Japan’s prime minister Yasuo Fukoda has announced he is resigning from his post.

Fukuda has faced continued problems pushing policies through the upper house of parliament which is controlled by the opposition Democratic Party of Japan.

Fukuda’s ruling Liberal Democratic Party has faced growing criticism as the Japanese economy continues to take hits and the loss of pension records and an unpopular healthcare system has mired the government in gridlock.

According to reports from Reuters, Fukuda explained his frustration with the current problems noting, “If we are to prioritize the people's livelihoods, there cannot be a political vacuum from political bargaining, or a lapse in policies.”
