Breast Cancer Awareness Month – October 2010

Breast Cancer Awareness Month is here again. October 2010 has been recognized as the Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Awareness is, more often than not, the primary factor lending toward acceptance of a fact. Being diagnosed with breast cancer can change the life patterns of both a woman as well as her family. In this entire gamut, the woman suffers the most physical and mental trauma, obviously. A man also, however, sees his life falling apart before his very eyes. Men, not naturally given to care taking, might decide to take the feckless way out and run from the situation. This is rare though, everyone is susceptible to some sort of disease.

Ironic

The last thing a woman needs to deal with in a situation like this is the trauma of a divorce. It has been found, however, that almost as many women make the decision to divorce after being diagnosed with breast cancer, as men in such relationships. A good divorce lawyer needs to be found. Particularly, with so many other drastic changes happening in a woman’s life, a reputed, experienced, and skillful divorce attorney has no substitute.

Making it Worse

Awareness can greatly reduce the rates of divorces that occur when a spouse is diagnosed with breast cancer. It isn’t about the man at all, in this case. A man needs to be given a crash course on how to deal with the circumstances because dumping all the responsibilities on his precious wife is not the proper or moral reaction in this situation, particularly, if there are children involved in these matters.

Bite the Bullet

While counseling might be a better option to decide if the marriage is worth saving, if either of the parties feels very strongly about ending the marriage then hiring a divorce lawyer to take care of things might be the best option. Property and assets division as well as child custody and alimony are issues that need to be dealt with in a sensitive manner. Divorce attorneys are specialized attorneys well versed with family law and are equipped to deal with these things suitably.

No One Said it was Easy

Breast Cancer can be fought, as the Breast Cancer Awareness month tries to tell us. Both spouses need to be strong.
