Oregon Inches Up in AP Football Poll

Oregon Ducks have clinched the third position in the coveted AP Top 25 College Football Poll by defeating the Stanford Cardinals 52-31 on Saturday. The polls, which were released on Sunday, elated the Ducks from their previous fourth position.

Oregon (5-0, 2-0 Pac-10) have displaced Boise State, who were neatly stacked on this position for long. Boise State has also fared better recently by defeating New Mexico State 59-0 in what was their eighteenth straight game victory.

Stanford has been dropped to the 16th position from their previous ranking at the number 9. There were some speculations about the Ducks ascending to the number 2 position given their 52 points lead on Stanford. Coach Chip Kelly dismissed that talk by saying that they were "nothing more than 5-0." Ohio State currently holds the second position.

Ohio is also preparing well for the next Saturday's home game against Indiana. Their hopes are pinned on quarterback Terrelle Pryor, who suffered a strained left quadriceps muscle against Illinois on Saturday. Pryor is expecting a full recovery before their game against Indiana. Coach Jim Tressel is also not looking for any backups as he hopes that Pryor would be ready to play.

Georgia, however, will not see its freshman linebacker T.J. Stripling in the game against Tennessee as he has injured his right knee in Saturday night's loss at Colorado. Coach Mark Richt is also doubtful of sophomore cornerback Branden Smith's participation in the game after he sustained a concussion in the Saturday game.

Alabama currently leads the AP Football ranking.
