Vick's Injury Proved Fatal for the Eagles

The Philadelphia Eagles succumbed to the onslaught of the Washington Redskins as they saw their fortunes plummet after Michael Vick's injury.

The Eagles were not the unlucky ones before the game started. They had quarterback Michael Vick on their side who was promised to steer them to victory. Instead of wining them the trophy, he was gurneyed out of the field because of rib and neck injuries. The 30-year old quarterback was staging a comeback when he sustained injury on his chest and neck. This happened in the first half and tilted the balance in favor of the Redskins.

Vick, known for his stealthy offensive and speed, received a severe blow from Kareem Moore and DeAngelo Hall after he took off on a 23-yard scramble.

Redskins did not miss an opportunity in exploiting the situation. Brandon Banks completed a 53-yard punt return down the left sideline. The Redskins took a 7-0 lead in just three plays.

Ryain Torain's 12-yard TD enabled the Redskins to overcome any fears they had of the Eagles and proceeded to demolish their rivals. The performance of Quintin Mikell of the Eagles did not help as he committed a 15-yard penalty while taking down Santana Moss with a horse collar tackle.

Jorrick Calvin scrambled for a return to the kickoff and managed to field the ball 4 yards deep in the end zone. His plans were milled by Lorenzo Alexander at the 17 on a helmet-first hit.

After a three-and-out, McNabb clinched victory for the Redskins with a 31-yard touchdown pass to tight end Chris Cooley.
