Around 200 Facebook Employees Previously Worked At Google- Over 10% Of The Total Staff

We all are aware of the fact that many of Facebook's employees previously worked at Google, including COO Sheryl Sandberg. But not many people know that it was over 10% of the total staff.

Around 200 of Facebook's employees were previously employed by Google, shows this weekend's New York Times profile on Sheryl Sandberg's and her association with Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Facebook.

That is a bit more than 10% of the total Facebook staff, keeping in mind a recent estimate of around 1,600 people employed by Facebook.

Prominent ex-Google employees at the social networking website include Sandberg, Vice President of ad ops David Fischer, Chief Technology Officer Bret Taylor, Vice President of communications Elliot Schrage and recently hired Erick Tseng, who is in charge of Facebook's mobile services.

What it means is that the momentum has shifted away from Google, to some extent, and toward Facebook in Silicon Valley. (Assuming that the number of former Facebook employees working at Google is not more than 200). This also indicates that Google's employees can "get" more social while they are not working with Google.

However, the good news for Google is that it has only lost around 200 of approximately 22,000 workers (1%) to Facebook, which is not an enormous exodus. Surely, some of the big names have left Google, such as, Erick Tsenk. But it doesn't mean that everybody is leaving Google to join Facebook.
