Putting once again proved to be the decisive factor in the Ryder Cup, culminating with Graeme McDowell's clutch putt on the 16th hole.
Amateurs looking to show their putting prowess now have their own version of the Ryder Cup with the U.S. Putting Tour. This
amateur putting competition is open to all amateur golfers 13 years of age and up. Men and women will compete against each other.
The culmination of this year-long challenge is the USPT National Championship scheduled for
The Crossings at Carlsbad in Carlsbad, California the week of September 24, 2011. The
national putting championship will crown America's Best Putter among amateur golfers.
"For the first time, all amateur golfers have a chance to win a national golf championship in a non-handicap event," said Jim Hartley, founder and president of the U.S. Putting Tour. "And with women competing head-to-head with men, anything can happen."
Golfers can enter the USPT National Championship directly or qualify at an official local qualifying event. These qualifying events can be hosted by public, private and resort clubs, men's clubs, and ladies' clubs throughout the country between October 2010 and September 2011.
Individuals seeking
golf income opportunities can hold local qualifying events for the national putting championship. More information on the putting tournament and on the golf business opportunity is available at the U.S. Putting Tour's website.
