Hype is on the high as the Detroit Pistons play their exhibition opener tonight, especially after seeing their last season's 27-55 performance. It all happened after LeBron James up the ante after joining forces with Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade for the Miami Heat.
Ben Wallace has toned down the hype by saying that it is only because of the Pistons that the interest has been increased. He was not eager to acknowledge the brouhaha that was created after the troika of James, Bosh and Wade joined forces for the Miami Heat. The Pistons have many watching their moves closely after this alliance.
The publicity was generated after James announced his intentions of making it a Heat trio. He also convinced Bosh and Wade to come out of their free agency period and join a professional team. James also faced some criticism when he announced the decision on the ESPN and made loud claims.
The Pistons are at peace with James' antics as many players had hints of the trio getting along for the play up.
ESPN will not telecast the game live as it has been relegated to NBA TV and the local affiliate of Fox Sports. ESPN will cover the event on its Web site and has assigned two reporters for this job. The Pistons will have one game to play and improve their performance before the Oct. 27 season opener at New Jersey.
People are watching closely as the outcome of the opener will decide the validity of the hype.
