USPT, LLC announced today that the first
annual U.S. Putting Tour National Championship will be held September
24-30, 2011 at The Crossings at Carlsbad, in Carlsbad, California. This
putting competition is open to all male and female amateur golfers in the United
States and abroad who are at least 13 years of age as of September 24,
2011.
Golfers can enter the
national putting championship directly or can attempt to qualify through USPT
qualifying events held throughout the year. Private and public golf
courses can host official qualifying events, as can men’s and ladies’
clubs, and individuals who align with a golf club or practice facility.
“The USPT National
Championship is an exciting event for all amateur golfers,” said U.S.
Putting Tour founder and president, Jim Hartley. “We’ve created a level
playing field for men and women, young and old, and by doing so, we’re
going to find America’s best putter.”
The USPT's national
putting championship is a week-long event that consists of three rounds of
competition, in which golfers attempt to advance to the Finals on
September 30. The championship will be held on The Crossings’ large
two-tiered practice putting green, which features a view of the Pacific
Ocean.
“The Crossings at Carlsbad
is excited to be the host site for the inaugural USPT National
Championship,” said Director of Golf, Gary Glaser. “Golfers who are
competing in the championship will enjoy everything our course and
coastal north county San Diego have to offer.”
The Crossings at Carlsbad was voted by
GOLF Magazine as one of the "Top 10 New Courses You Can Play” and won the
Golf World 2010 Readers’ choice Award as the #1 Public Food & Dining Facility.
