The Triumvirate at the Miami Heat succeeded in keeping the Detroit Pistons at bay and proving that the hype was not that wrong.
The opening act, which many considered the most awaited of this season, started with a victory for the Heat. The power trio of forwards Chris Bosh and LeBron James and guard Dwyane Wade ensured that the victory fell into their hands during the opener.
It was the combination of James and Bosh that scored 38 points for their home team. The Heat ultimately clinched the victory 105-89 though Wade did not have much of participation as a hamstring strain made him leave the court within three minutes of the game. The injury is not serious though it is still not known how much time he will take in recovery.
James was on the offensive and that proved fruitful for the Heat. Bosh was even better as he led with 20 points and shot 8-for-13, which is roughly translated to 62%.
James had possession of the ball for 27 minutes and Bosh kept it for 26 minutes thus proving their coach Erik Spoelstra wrong as he had lower expectations of the players.
James remained the center of attention during the game as throngs of reporters, cameramen and friends had converged in the American Airlines Arena in Miami. Detroit Tigers first baseman Miguel Cabrera and former Heat player Alonzo Mourning represented James' athlete friends whereas Gloria Estefan and Rick Ross were his showbiz supporters.
The buzz had been generated by extensive promotion of the play up and James' statements and distinct style that garnered interest among his fans.
