The Big Break for all Amateur Golfers

U.S. Putting Tour provides all amateur golfers with an opportunity to win a national golf championship

The Big Break has given a lucky handful of golfers a chance to pursue their golf dreams. Tommy "Two Gloves" Gainey and Matt Every come to mind.

The launch of the U.S. Putting Tour gives all amateur golfers, regardless of their ability level, a shot at winning a national amateur golf championship. It was announced yesterday that the first USPT National Championship will be held September 24-30, 2011 at The Crossings at Carlsbad, the newest golf course in the western home of golf, Carlsbad, California.

"So many people love the game of golf, but don't have enough ability to compete at the highest level in amateur golf competitions," said USPT Founder and President, Jim Hartley. "But many of these same people are very good putters. So, the U.S. Putting Tour and the USPT National Championship give them their chance to win a national golf tournament."

One unique aspect of the national putting event is the fact that men and women will compete against each other to decide who is America's Best Putter. In addition, the championship is open to all amateur golfers 13 years of age and up.

The championship will take place over six days on The Crossings' scenic two-tiered practice green. Golfers will have to advance through two rounds to reach the finals. Gary Glaser, Director of Golf at The Crossings says, "This will be an outstanding national event at an outstanding golf facility. The Crossings looks forward to hosting the USPT National Championship."
