Easy A star Emma Stone has been cast in the new Spiderman movie. Despite being widely predicted for the role of Mary Jane, with her red hair and all, Stone will take on the role of Spiderman’s previous girlfriend Gwen Stacy.
The new Spiderman movie is to be a prequel, so the role as Peter Parker’s first girl will be a central one. Luckily, the redhead is actually a natural blond, so she will revert to her natural color for the role.
Stone, 21, was cast in the role after displaying immediate chemistry with Peter Parker actor Andrew Garfield, 27. Director, Mark Webb said that "The chemistry between Andrew and Emma was stunning and made Emma the clear choice.”
The new film is set to begin production the
December for a July 2012 release in 3D. The young actress got her big break
into Hollywood
playing Jonah Hill’s girlfriend in the 2007 film Superbad. While she is currently starring in Easy A, she will also feature in the new Steve Carell, Ryan Gosling
flick Crazy, Stupid Love.
Sony Pictures Entertainment who are behind the new ‘spidey’ film have said of Stone: "It's been an incredible journey for us to watch Emma's star rise as an actress. She is extraordinarily talented and has a very special on-screen spark that is perfect for this role."
Fans are unsure about losing Toby Maguire and Kirsten Dunst in the lead roles, but the new film is much anticipated nonetheless.
