So many people want to know
how to make money in golf. Unless your name is Phil Mickelson or Tiger Woods, you're not going to do it by playing golf.
Golfers, golf fans and entrepreneurs can start
making money in golf with the new U.S. Putting Tour. This new national
amateur golf tour allows individuals to hold official qualifying tournaments to qualify golfers for the USPT National Championship in September 2001.
Anyone who holds a local putting tournament will qualify the winner for the finals of the USPT National Championship by submitting the winner's entry fee to the USPT. Tournament promoters get to set the entry fee and format for their official USPT qualifying events.
"This
golf business opportunity is ideal for someone looking for a part-time job in golf," says Jim Hartley, president of the U.S. Putting Tour. "And it's something that can grow over time."
Local qualifying events can be held on weekends or during the week. These putting tournaments can be free-standing events or tied into men's club or ladies club tournaments or charity golf tournaments.
Multiple qualifying events can take place at the same golf course. The USPT's only stipulation is that a winner is named for each local qualifying tournament that is run.
More information on the
golf income idea with the USPT is available at the U.S. Putting Tour website.
