Boston Celtics started their preseason with a victory thanks to the presence of many superstar players and riding on a hype that was generated on the expected results. The Celtics defeated the Philadelphia 76ers 93-65 in an NBA preseason game on Wednesday, a victory that is mainly attributed to the star power of the players, including the recently acquired player Shaquille O'Neal.
The powerhouse of Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen and Paul Pierce ensured the victory for the Celtics but it was Shaquille O'Neal who remained the center of attraction both in the court as well as in the media.
The Sixers had the talent of Trent Plaisted, Elton Brand and Andre Iguodala to tackle the onslaught of the Celtics but they were unable to match up to their powerful rivals.
The Sixers' 10th giveaway came early in the second quarter and they ended the game with 22. The team was confined to five field goals, which came on the wheels of 31 attempts before the break; the lead was 49-22 lead. The number of double-digit turnovers was higher before it materialized into double digit points.
The shots were not that attractive and they missed many during the course of the play with the final tally of 18-for-67, or a percentage of 26.9.
The game went to the Celtics rather easily with powerful play by all the star players. The 93-65 defeat may not be major shocker for the Sixers but it will impact their rankings thus kicking off the preseason on a low.
