The U.S. Putting Tour's 2011
putting championship is set to take place September 24-30 at The Crossings at Carlsbad, the newest golf course in Carlsbad, California.
This
national putting championship for men and women amateur golfers will crown the best putter in America. Golfers can enter the amateur putting championship directly or can attempt to qualify in
local putting tournaments throughout the country.
The USPT National Championship will consist of three rounds of putting. Golfers can play their first round on any of the first five days of competition during the Championship Week. A cut will be made after
Round One. Round Two will be played on day six, Thursday, September 29.
Another cut will be made after Round Two. The final round will be played
on Friday, September 30, 2011.
The number of golfers making each cut
will be dependent on the combination of USPT National Championship
entries and local qualifiers from USPT qualifying events. All of the
putting
competition during USPT Championship Week will take place on The
Crossings at Carlsbad’s spacious and scenic practice putting green,
which features a view of the Pacific Ocean.
The Crossings is nestled among more than 1,000 acres of
Carlsbad's coastal terrain and natural habitat. It is home to wetlands,
sage brush and other plant, animal and bird life. The course was developed and is owned by the city of Carlsbad.
Named for the five bridges, or crossings, that were designed into the course to meet existing
environmental and topographic conditions, The Crossings at Carlsbad also
features a lighted practice center and access to The Crossings Trail, a
three-mile round-trip walking path that links with the Carlsbad's
extensive Trail System.
