CNN anchor Soledad O’Brien will undergo surgery on her knee later this month. O’Brien suffered a serious injury Sunday in a horseback riding accident. The award-winning journalist tells BV Buzz she was thrown from her horse while riding with her two daughters.
"She got spooked by another horse and ditched me. I tore absolutely everything in my knee. My surgeon said 'impressive!' I am on crutches now and doing physical therapy. I'll have surgery in two weeks when the swelling goes down,” she told BV Buzz.
“It's super hard to clunk around on crutches! You know what's annoying is now I'm slow and I usually get 10 things done at one time! So cutting back is really hard for me," she adds. "Plus, the kids keep baking me get-well-soon cakes, which I'm eating!"
O’Brien does not plan to let the injury slow her down. She plans to continue with her travel schedule, which includes presenting the Soledad O’Brien Freedom’s Voice Award to Hill Harper and Kevin Liles at Morehouse College in Atlanta.
Later this month, O’Brien’s new documentary “Almighty Dept” will premiere. She is also gearing up to release her book “The Next Big Story: My Journey Through the Land of Possibilities” on November 2.
