Helen Mirren, Oscar Award-Winning Actress, Reveals She was Date-Raped as a Student

In a controversial interview with Britain’s GQ magazine Oscar Award-winning actress Helen Mirren admitted she had been the victim of date-rape more than once while she was a student.

Mirren also admitted to using cocaine in the early 1980s and spoke of her fondness for the drug, only stopping after learning it profited a known Nazi war criminal.

Mirren’s comments about date-rape have angered some anti-rape groups who took exception to the 63-year-old's opinion concerning the legal issue of date-rape when a woman said no at the last moment. She was quoted as saying, “I don't think she can have that man into court under those circumstances. I guess it is one of the subtle parts of the men/women relationship that has to be negotiated and worked out between them.”

The Academy Award winner for the film The Queen also spoke of her affection for cocaine telling GQ “I loved coke. I never did a lot, just a little bit at parties, but what ended it for me was when they caught Klaus Barbie, the Butcher of Lyon, in the early 80s.”

Barbie had been hiding in South America when he was caught and had been supporting himself on the sale of cocaine.
