Sarah Palin Releases Announcement of 17-Year-Old Daughter’s Pregnancy

Republican vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin released an announcement on Monday revealing that her 17-year-old daughter, Bristol Palin, was pregnant and that she has made plans to marry the father of the child.

In the announcement released by the John McCain campaign Palin, 44, stated “Our beautiful daughter Bristol came to us with news that as parents we knew would make her grow up faster than we had ever planned. As Bristol faces the responsibilities of adulthood, she knows she has our unconditional love and support.”

The statement continued, “Bristol and the young man she will marry are going to realize very quickly the difficulties of raising a child, which is why they will have the love and support of our entire family. We ask the media, respect our daughter and Levi's privacy as has always been the tradition of children of candidates.”

According to reports John McCain knew of the pregnancy before selecting the Alaskan governor as his running mate last Friday.
