Johnny Depp has delighted a school-full of young fans by turning up as Captain Jack Sparrow to help the kids ‘mutiny’ against their teachers.
The happy incident was the idea of school student Beatrice Delap, 9, who wrote to Captain Jack after going to see the film set of the latest ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ movie. "We are a bunch of budding young pirates. Normally we're a right handful but we're having trouble mutinying against the teachers. We'd love it if you could come and help," the letter reads.
Depp, who is filming the fourth installment to the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ franchise at the Old Royal Navy College in London, surprised teachers and students alike by turning up in full Captain Jack glory to the Greenwich, south-east London primary school, which is a moment away from the film set.
Beatrice told reporters that Depp had ambled into the assembly hall, and pulled out the letter she had written him, telling her that he planned to have it framed, before giving her a hug.
"He said the pirates were going to take over the school and only eat candy and our teeth would turn black and fall out. But he said we shouldn't mutiny against the teachers because there were some police outside and we might get into trouble. It was the most exciting school day ever,” the excited Beatrice recalled.
Beatrice had the idea to write the letter after going to the film set with a friend the week before.
