The U.S. Putting Tour is creating a Battle of the Sexes for amateur golfers at its first annual USPT National Championship announced this week. Men and women will compete together, without handicaps, in this
national putting championship to determine America's Best Putter.
The USPT National Championship is scheduled for September 24-30, 2011 at The Crossings at Carlsbad in Carlsbad California. This six-day competition will take place on The Crossings' spacious and scenic two-tiered putting green, which features a view of the Pacific Ocean.
"Men have a physical advantage over women in most sports, golf included," said USPT founder, Jim Hartley. "But in putting, it's a level playing field; so we'll get to see who comes out on top in the USPT National Championship."
While the stakes are high an a national golf title is at stake, the
putting championship promises to be a
fun putting tournament for competitors and fans alike.
Golfers looking for
amateur putting events to hold in their men's club or ladies club can host an official USPT national championship qualifying event. The winner of each qualifying event will become eligible to compete in the finals of the championship. These qualifying events can be held anytime in the 12 months leading up to the September 2011 championship.
