Miami Heat guard Dwyane Wade might be out for two weeks, after suffering a hamstring injury during the Heat's preseason opener against the Pistons on Tuesday. According to a report from the Miami Herald, Wade says that an MRI won't be needed for his right hamstring, but he will need to take it easy. "It's sore," Wade said after a Wednesday practice. "It'll be
the same the next couple days. It'll be sore and I'll continue to get
treatment and therapy and we'll see how it feels in a week or so. But
[I] can't rush it and they won't let me rush it right now anyway." Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra told the Herald on Thursday that the 6-time NBA All-Star and NBA Finals MVP will be re-evaluated in about a week and is expected to sit out for at least two weeks.
Despite his injury and the rest that it demands, Wade says that he does intend to travel to Kansas City for the Heat's exhibition game against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Friday. "I'm still a teacher," Wade told the Herald. "I still continue to teach
these guys, and I can get my therapy while I'm there, as well. This time
is still vital and very important to the growth of the Miami Heat."
Hopefully this injury is just a "minor setback," as Wade calls it, because thousands, if not millions, of basketball fans across the country would like to see Wade get better, not only for his own sake but also for the sake of being able to see the new Big Three (Wade, Chris Bosh, and LeBron James) in action. Wade seems hopeful about making progress with his recovery, saying, "I'll take it and move on from it like I've done every minor setback that I've had."
