Brett Favre Accused of Sending Inappropriate Photos and Messages
NFL Superstar Allegedly Sends Lewd Photos and Messages to Woman
The NFL is reviewing allegations that Minnesota Vikings quarterback Brett Favre sent lewd photos and messages to Jenn Sterger, who used to work for the New York Jets while Favre was on that team. A collection of voicemails, MySpace messages, and pictures of a man's genitals were posted Thursday in a video posted on Deadspin.com. According to a report from foxsports.com, "The gravelly voice caught on tape sounds remarkably like the quarterback propositioning Sterger, 26, a former Playboy pinup, in voice mails from 2008, when both were with the Jets."
In one of the voicemails, a person who is alleged to be Favre, says, "Just got done with practice. Got meetings here for a couple more hours, then I'm going back to the hotel to just chill... So send me a text. So I'll be in the building for a couple of hours.
But, uh, I know [unintelligible] came up and asked ya for your number or
gave you my number. But I understand. Send me a text. I'd love to see
you tonight. All right, talk to you later. Bye." A MySpace message allegedly sent to Sterger from Favre reads, "I saw you in the tunnel at the game last week got your name from
front-office person. I'm new to team with gray hair all the info I can
give." This message was posted on Deadspin over a year ago.
Sterger, who, at 26, has been alive only 5 years longer than Favre has been in the NFL, currently co-hosts a sports show called "The Daily Line" on the Versus network. According to Deadspin, Sterger told the website back in August that she did not want to have her name attached with the story. She also explained that Favre is not even her type, allegedly saying in an email, "I don't roll that way. That way meaning old . . . or married." According to foxsports.com, "Sterger's manager, Phil Reese, told The Post she had no comment Thursday, and denied she had provided the messages to the site."
Favre, who turns 41 on Sunday, is married to breast cancer victim and activist Deanna Tynes, with whom he has two daughters, Brittany and Breleigh. He is a highly accomplished NFL player, with 11 Pro Bowl selections, 3 NFL MVP titles, and a Super Bowl championship to his name. When asked about the controversial allegations during a press conference on Thursday, Favre said, "I'm not getting into that. I've got my hands full with the Jets." According to the Fox Sports website, "Neither Favre's agent nor his assistant responded to the Post's requests for a comment about the allegations."
NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said on Friday that the league is "We are reviewing the matter." Interestingly, Favre and the Vikings are set to play against the New York Jets on Monday.
