Republican National Convention to Resume Tuesday Following Hurricane Gustav

The Republican National Convention scaled back its opening day on Monday due to Hurricane Gustav but the party will resume with a full schedule on Tuesday from St. Paul, Minnesota.

Highlighting the day’s affairs will be former Tennessee Sen. Fred Thompson and Connecticut Senator Joe Lieberman who will deliver each deliver prime-time speeches addressing the night’s theme of “Who is John McCain.”

President George Bush, originally scheduled to deliver a speech on Monday night, will now speak via satellite at 9:30 p.m. ET.

John McCain is expected to appear at the Republican National Convention on Thursday to accept the presidential nomination of the Republican Party. Last week Democrat’s officially nominated Barack Obama as their candidate for the 2008 presidential election.
