The newest amateur golf tour launches this month in the form of the U.S. Putting Tour, a national amateur putting tour for male and female golfers ages 13 and up.
The USPT will feature
amateur golf tournaments nationwide throughout the year that will qualify golfers for the USPT National Championship an
amateur golf championship for putting.
"The U.S. Putting Tour brings an exciting new dimension to amateur golf," says USPT founder Jim Hartley. "All amateur golfers have a shot at winning a tournament. In a sense it's a lot like amateur poker players having a chance to win the World Series of Poker."
At the USPT National Championship, golfers will advance through three rounds of putting to determine the national putting champion. The championship will take place in Carlsbad, California at The Crossings at Carlsbad, a city-owned course that features a view of the Pacific Ocean for its two-tiered putting green.
Individual golf clubs, including men's and ladies' clubs, can hold local qualifying events for the championship. Hosts of local tournaments can set their own tournament format. The winner of each qualifying event will be eligible for the finals of the USPT National Championship when the tournament host completes the registration on the winner's behalf.
People looking for a
part-time golf job to earn extra income also can hold USPT qualifying events at one or more golf clubs in their area. The USPT website explains the golf business opportunity in detail for people interested in the business aspect of the tour.
