New York Yankees send the Minnesota Twins home from the Big Apple

The New York Yankees were led by their third starter of the series Phil Hughes. Phil Hughes in his first career playoff start was outstanding striking out six Twin batters in seven innings. Hughes gave up a total of 5 hits in seven scoreless.

The Yankees who didn't win their division, came into the playoffs as the wild card swept the Twins to move into the ALCS. The Yankees will face the winner of the Texas Rangers Tampa Bay Ray series.

The offense came from Marcus Thames and Nick Swisher who both went yard. Rivera came in for the top of the 9th to finish of the Twins and sent them packing.
