Giants To Face Phillies after beating Atlanta

The San Francisco Giants won their Division Series by defeating the Atlanta Braves 3-2 on their home turf and thus sealed the deal for their three to one series victory.

The game was decided by one run and there were hardly any clear winners until the last moments of the play. The Giants have advanced to the National League Championship Series for the fifth time in their playing history and will compete with the Philadelphia Phillies on their rival's home field.

Victory came to the Giants in the form of a base loaded RBI single scored by Cody Ross in the seventh inning; he scored four big hits in the series and remained one of the best players.

Rookie Madison Bumgarner pitched brilliantly and kept the Braves to two runs in six innings, effectively putting an end to chances of them scoring another one and coming back into the game. Santiago Casilla also played well after he replaced Bumgarner as a relief and got five outs with his chances of six put to rest by shortstop Edgar Renteria, who dropped a soft liner by Alex Gonzalez.

The Giants faced a number of problems since the start of the game and at times appeared losing it. They were 0-1 in the sixth inning with pitcher Derek Lowe throwing a no-hitter. They went 1-2 on Brian McCann's solo homer in the same inning when they launched an offensive and took the lead against Lowe with a seventh-inning rally.

The Phillies are the favorite for the NLCS given their power and brilliant performance in recent games.
