A search and rescue mission is underway following a cargo plane crash in the Afghan mountains. The plane went down just before 8 p.m. Tuesday near Kabul. All 8 people aboard are believed to be dead.
The cargo plane, an L-100 Hercules aircraft from Uganda, was carrying supplies for NATO forces to the Kabul International Airport. Afghan service members and members of NATO’s International Security Assistance Force are searching for the crash site.
The cause of the crash is unknown. Weather conditions were clear when the plane went down.
