DePuy Hip Recall Lawsuits
In August of 2010 DePuy, a Johnson & Johnson company, recalled two devices: the ASR Hip Resurfacing System and the ASR XL Acetabular System. Each device replaces a worn or weakened part of the hip. The defective units implicated in the DePuy hip recall have been recalled because data shows a higher than normal failure rate for these hip implants. Individual and class action lawsuits have been filed around the country, alleging that DePuy and its parent company Johnson & Johnson knew the hip implants were defective long before they initiated the recall.
