Gwen Stefani's Husband Gavin Rossdale Admits to Being Involved With Cross-Dresser

Former Bush Singer Opens up About His Past

In a recent interview with Details magazine, Gwen Stefani's husband Gavin Rossdale confessed to having been involved with a cross-dresser during his teenage years. The 44-year-old vocalist, best known for his work with 90's rock band Bush, admits to having hooked up with a 1980's cross-dressing pop singer called Marilyn (real name Peter Robinson). "When you're 17, Jesus Christ. I don't think there's anything strange about any form of—you're learning about life," said Rossdale. "It's a part of growing up. That's it. No more, no less."

Rossdale's involvement with Marilyn was first revealed back in 1995, when androgynous singer Boy George talked about the relationship in his autobiography. Rossdale denied the claims then, saying "
I wasn't dating Marilyn. We were, and still are, good friends. George thinks everyone is gay." Years after writing the book, Boy George recalled, "When I was writing Take It Like A Man, Bush were well on their way to rock stardom and he appeared at my house to persuade me not to include him and Marilyn.
I agreed to leave some stuff out but I wasn't prepared to lie. I don't think Marilyn has ever really got over Gavin."

Marilyn has insisted that the relationship with Rossdale lasted for years, saying,
"He was the love of my life. We were together five years, but it felt like 40." Marilyn once told In Touch magazine about Rossdale that "He was the love of my life." M
arilyn claims that he lied about the relationship in the past to protect Rossdale's privacy at a time when Rossdale was just becoming successful. "He was just becoming successful in America," explained Marilyn. "I agreed to lie against every grain of my being."

Meanwhile, Rossdale still says that it was just a one-time thing. "That was it," he claims. "You have to know what you like, and I know what I like." He says that he initially denied the claims made in Boy George's autobiography because he basically wanted to protect his career. "I think at the outset there was a sort of fear—that was right at the beginning of Bush, and I didn't want it to be part of it," says Rossdale. "It felt like a cheap shot, so I was like, 'I'm not getting involved.' I've never wanted to appear closed about it. It's not something I've talked about really because it's always been in the glare of a tabloid world."
