Earthquake Hits Central Oklahoma, 2 Injured

An earthquake hit central Oklahoma Wednesday morning, injuring at least 2 people in Norman. The quake struck at 9:06 a.m. and lasted for about 15 seconds. It had a preliminary magnitude of 4.5. The epicenter was located about 6 miles east of Norman. Minor damages to buildings and homes have been reported.

“It came in loud and strong on all of our seismic stations,” said Randy Keller, director of the Oklahoma Geological Survey.

A spokesperson for the Emergency Medical Services Authority said both of the injured are in good condition.

Earthquakes are common in Oklahoma as a major fault line runs through the state. Many of the tremors are too small to be felt.
