The Anaheim Ducks put up a great performance on the ice as they defeated the Vancouver Canucks 4-3 at Honda Center in Anaheim, their home field.
Two goals with just one minute apart clinched the Ducks their first victory of the season after their hopes were dampened by three straight losses in the previous games. Corey Perry and Bobby Ryan handed their team the much-needed win when they scored one minute apart in the third period.
The other two goals were scored by Ryan Getzlaf, who also had three assists to his credit, and Teemu Selanne, who scored the fourth goal for the Ducks. Jonas Hiller also came to the rescue of his team by saving 36 times in the game.
Daniel Sedin of the Canucks scored a goal and an assist with the other two goals coming from Christian Ehrhoff and Raffi Torres. Canucks goalie Roberto Luongo was unable to stop four goals while he faced a total of 32 shots during the game
The Ducks were down 3-2 in the third period when Brendan Mikkelson hurtled the puck from the slot to the right where Getzlaf threw it back to the left; Perry made a quick and easy goal at the 8:54 mark to score for his team.
Just 1:18 later, Getzlaf pounced at the puck in the neutral zone and did not budge until he skated down the left wing and until Ryan had safe custody of it, who wristed it into the net with a perfect ease.
