Hurricane Hanna Downgraded to Tropical Storm but could Regain Strength and Hit U.S. East Coast

While the U.S. Gulf Coast continues cleaning up after Hurricane Gustav made landfall on Monday the U.S. East Coast has been warned that their storm is lurking as Tropical Storm Hanna makes her way through the Caribbean and towards American soil.

Meteorologists have said Hanna could quickly regain the sustained 74 mph winds that elevate her to a hurricane and are predicting a Friday or Saturday landfall for the East Coast but where that landfall is has yet to be determined. Warnings have already been issued from Miami all the way north to the outer banks of North Carolina.

On Tuesday Hanna battered the Bahamas and is expected to remain over the island and on Wednesday it will hover above the central portion of the island chain.
