2008 U.S. Open Results: Novak Djokovic Survives Scare from Tommy Robredo to Advance to Quarterfinals

Novak Djokovic was pressed to the limit on Tuesday afternoon but the number three seed managed to hold off Tommy Robredo in five sets, 4-6, 6-2, 6-3, 5-7, 6-3 to advance to the quarterfinals at the 2008 U.S. Open.

Djokovic was able to overcome 58 unforced errors in the match by capitalizing on 6 of 13 break point opportunities. The Serb allowed Robredo less than half that many break opportunities, handing over his serve just three times.

Djokovic is seeking his second career Grand Slam singles final; he captured his first earlier this year at the Australian Open. In 2007 he reached the finals at the U.S. Open but lost to Roger Federer.
