Six People Killed in Shooting Rampage in Washington State

A 28-year-old man described as mentally disturbed went on a shooting spree in Washington state on Tuesday killing at least six people and wounding two others before being apprehended by police following a high-speed chase.

Isaac Zamora began his shooting rampage shortly before 2:00 p.m. near the town of Alger when he killed sheriff’s deputy Anne Jackson. From that point Zamora reportedly began moving down the road shooting at people.

Police found a second person killed in Alger and two construction workers were shot in the town as well. Just a few houses away from where the construction workers were shot another body was found.

As police began pursuing Zamora a high-speed chase ensued at which time the suspect shot and killed a motorist along Interstate 5 before being run off the road and surrendering in a parking lot.

Zamora had been released from jail on August 6 after serving time on a drug charge. His mother told police he had a history of mental illness but had refused to take medication.
