Sarah Palin to Address Republican National Convention Wednesday Night

Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin will be addressing the delegates at the Republican National Convention on Wednesday in what is being billed as the most important speech of the Alaskan governor’s political career.

Palin was introduced as presumptive presidential nominee John McCain’s running mate last Friday and since that day she has been hailed in some political circles while condemned in others.

On Tuesday night former Sen. Fred Thompson defended Palin’s qualifications, telling delegates at the RNC “Some Washington pundits and media big shots are in a frenzy over the selection of a woman who has actually governed rather than just talked a good game on the Sunday talk shows and hit the Washington cocktail circuit.”

Palin, the first woman to be named a vice-presidential candidate on a Republican ticket, has also received the support of Joe Lieberman as well as Rudy Giuliani but has been attacked by Democrats for her lack of experience.

On Monday Palin was the subject of even more scrutiny after she announced her un-married 17-year-old daughter, Bristol Plain, was pregnant.
