Yahoo! Inc. (NASDAQ:YHOO)
surged 2.01% to $16.25 on over 58.48 million shares. Late Wednesday, the Wall
Street Journal reported that AOL Inc. and several private-equity firms are
exploring making an offer to buy the Internet giant.
The stock opened at $16.20 and was trading within
the range of $15.90-$16.73. At today`s closing market price, the market
capitalization of the company stands at $21.91 billion. The stock went down
more than 4% year-to-date.
Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC)
closed at $19.32 on over 64.05 million shares. This week, the company posted a
third-quarter profit of $2.96 billion, or 52 cents a share, compared with $1.86
billion, or 33 cents a share, in the year-ago period.
Analysts
had expected earnings of 50 cents a share on revenue of $11 billion, according
to a consensus survey by Thomson Reuters.
For
the current quarter, Intel expects revenue of $11.4 billion, plus or minus $400
million. Wall Street currently expects $11.33 billion in sales.
Advanced
Micro Devices, Inc. (NYSE:AMD) slid 0.27% to $7.12 on
strong volumes. This week, the company announced revenue for the third quarter
of 2010 of $1.62 billion, a net loss of $118 million, or $0.17 per share, and
operating income of $128 million. The company reported non-GAAP net income of
$108 million, or $0.15 per share, and non-GAAP operating income of $144
million.
Over
the past 52-week, the stock traded within the range of $4.33-$10.24. In the
past one month of trading sessions, the stock went up more than 15%.
