Mikael Samuelsson staged a comeback by adding three points to the Vancouver Canucks' 5-1 victory over the Carolina Hurricanes Sunday night.
The ace forward was earlier demoted to Canucks' third line after having had only a pair of assists in four games playing with the Sedins but made his dominating presence felt yesterday night when he led his team to victory.
He assisted in two goals in the first period and scored his first goal of the season by capitalizing on a one-timer off a crisp cross-ice pass from Tanner Glass. Mason Raymond of the Canucks also scored his first two goals of the season and added an assist skating on the ace trio with Daniel Sedin and Henrik Sedin; Ryan Kesler finally scored his first goal on that move.
The Canucks had goals coming from three players and points from eight during the game in what become a total of seven players that scored and 13 skaters that earned the points.
Cory Schneider made 32 saves during the game in what was his first NHL win in 22 months. Sedin brothers had a combined total of three assists and a total season tally of 14 points with each of them scoring points in every game this year.
Canucks had a 3-0 lead in the second period when Hurricane Patrick O'Sullivan scored at 18:13 and cut the lead to 3-1. He failed to further break it down mainly due to careless game played by his teammates. It all ended up in a smooth win for the Canucks.
