The Rev. Jesse Jackson spent Wednesday night in Chicago’s Northwestern Memorial Hospital after experiencing severe stomach pains. Doctors have told the civil rights leader he has viral gastroenteritis but have kept him at the hospital to conduct more tests.
Jackson, 66, had been in Georgia working on voter registration when he began to experience stomach pain. After arriving in Illinois on Wednesday Jackson admitted himself to the hospital.
On Thursday Jackson announced that he was feeling better but he was unsure how long he would be held at the hospital.
