Twilight Collects Screams

Twilight has collected the most ‘Screams’ at this year’s Spike TV Scream Awards. Anyone surprised?

Twilight star Kristen Stewart was representing the Twilight gang at the Scream Awards, and picked up best fantasy actress. She was joined by Jackson Rathbone and Nikki Reed from the hit vampire series as well to accept the Twilight: Eclipse award for best fantasy film.

Stewart’s co-star and real-life boyfriend picked up the best fantasy actor award, and newcomer to the Twilight cast for Eclipse Xavier Samuel won the “ultimate scream” award as well as breakout male performance.

The awards show went retro, with the original queen of alien-screams, Sigourney Weaver, emerging from a giant brain to accept ‘Heroine’ honors from director James Cameron.

Other retro-goers were Michael J Fox and Christopher Lloyd, who received a standing ovation when they rejoined the infamous time-travelling car for a nod at the 25th anniversary for the Back To The Future series.

Vampires ruled the night though, with the cast of HBO’s True Blood also winning a swathe of awards. The awards show, which honors the spooky and bloody among Hollywood’s latest and greatest, also showcased a number of previews from upcoming films, including the latest in the original Scream series, Scream 4, as well as the new Harry Potter film and Paranormal Activity.

Twilight fans would be disappointed that there was no sneak peak at the next film in the epic series, but unfortunately filming has yet to begin on the first portion of Twilight: Breaking Dawn.
