Cliff Gullett, a record-setting motorcycle racer, was killed on Wednesday when he lost control of his bike while traveling at a speed of 239 mph on the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah.
Gullett was taking part in a time trial for the 500cc Streamliner class when the crash occurred and investigators have yet to determine what caused the 47-year-old to lose control.
Just over a week ago Gullett added three more World Land Speed Records to his credit and had a pair of runs prior to the crash that qualified for records in the 500cc class that are expected to be ratified.
Gullett leaves behind a wife, 15-year-old son and 10-year-old daughter.
