Disgraced Hollywood actor Mel Gibson is set to appear in a cameo role in the sequel to surprise smash-hit “The Hangover.”
Gibson’s long-time pal Jodie Foster has come out to confirm the cameo. She also came out with a dubious statement that, despite his many, many troubles, Gibson is still "the most loved man in the film business."
Foster continued that regarding his upcoming appearance as a tattoo artist in “The Hangover” sequel: "He really liked the humor in that first [Hangover] movie, so I'm glad he'll be in it!" Foster says of Gibson that he is a very loyal friend who will hopefully emerge from his “rough time” soon.
And what a rough time it has been. Currently the “Braveheart” actor is embroiled in a bitter public feud with ex Oksana Grigorieva over accusations of physical violence, but taints of alcoholism, racism and anti-semitism still haunt the troubled actor who has largely stayed out of the spotlight in recent years.
"He is incredibly loved by everyone that's ever come into contact with him or works with him," Foster continued. "He is truly the most loved man in the film business, so, hopefully that stands for something."
Gibson is famed for his performances in “Braveheart” and the “Mad Max” franchises, as well as for directing the bloodthirsty films “Apocolypto” and “The Passion.”
While his talent as an actor and a director remain undisputed, his personal problems, which seem to become very public, have detracted from his shine in Hollywood.
