Part of Pentagon Locked Down After Shooting

Authorities locked down part of the Pentagon Tuesday morning after at least 5 shots were fired at the building. The south parking lot and south entrance were placed on lockdown for about an hour. Authorities also shut down part of Interstate 395 to carry out a search investigation.

The shooting happened around 4:30 a.m. on a side of the Pentagon that is being renovated. One bullet hit a window, but did not shatter it as all windows in the building are bullet proof. Another bullet struck the building itself. No one was injured.

“There was some minor damage to the exterior of the building but no penetration,” said Defense Department spokesman David Lapan.

Investigators are looking at surveillance tapes to help identify and catch the shooter.
