Tom Bosley, who played Mr. Cunningham on the classic TV show "Happy Days", passed away on Tuesday at the age of 83. According to a report from TMZ.com, the beloved actor died at his home in Palm Springs, California. Family members say that Bosley had been battling a staph infection.
Henry Winkler and Scott Baio, who both co-starred on "Happy Days" with Bosley, reportedly said that they were shocked by his death, calling Bosley a "great man." Winkler told TMZ, "I saw him before I ever got to Hollywood on Broadway, and he was great.
And then I got to act with him for 10 years and he was great. Tom
Bosley was our mentor. He was a true artist ... a great husband, and a
fabulous father and grandfather. He will be sorely missed, but never
forgotten." Scott Baio added, "He was a good man who taught me a lot about the business and business itself. He was a professional guy ... I'm sad."
Tom Bosley was an accomplished actor who was also well-known for his roles on "Murder, She Wrote," "Father Dowling Mysteries," and "Fiorello!"
