AP Top 25 College Football Scores: #3 Ohio State Survives Scare, Knocks Off Ohio to Remain Undefeated

The #3 Ohio State Buckeyes survived a major scare from their in-state neighbor Ohio Bobcats on Saturday, pulling out a 26-14 victory after trailing midway through the third quarter.

Ohio State struggled throughout the first half as they managed just a pair of field goals from Ryan Pretorius and trailed 7-6 at the break. Donte Harden provided the Bobcats with their lone score of the half, breaking a 15-yard TD run in the second quarter.

Ohio then pushed their lead to 14-6 in the third quarter when Curtis Meyers recovered a fumble in the endzone and the Ohio State fans were stunned. The Buckeyes managed to shake off the rust and cut their deficit to 14-12 after Daniel Herron scored from a yard out but Pretorius missed the extra point.

The Buckeyes then took advantage of a fumbled punt and put together a six-play drive that ended on a Brandon Saine 2-yard touchdown and Ohio State was up 19-14. That lead was bumped to 26-14 with just under six minutes left in the game when Ray Small took a punt return back 69 yards for a touchdown.

Ohio did their part to make sure Ohio State won, turning the ball over five times in the game, two of those were turned into points for the Buckeyes.

Ohio State will travel to California next week where they will face the #1 USC Trojans. Ohio will host Central Michigan.
