Microsoft
Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) fell 2.79% to $25.10. The company announced
that chief software architect Ray Ozzie plans to step down from his position.
He will remain with the company for a while as he transitions the teams and
ongoing strategic projects within the organization.
The
stock opened at $25.28 and has a 52-week range of $22.73-$31.58. In the past
one month of trading sessions, the stock went down more than 1%.
Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) dropped
2.67% to $309.50 on about 44.03 million shares, a day after the company said
its fourth quarter earnings soared from a year ago, but the firm sold fewer of
its popular iPad tablets than some investors had expected.
For the
quarter, Apple reported net income of $4.31 billion, or $4.64 per share,
compared with net income of $2.53 billion or $2.77 per share for the same
period the previous year.
Over the
past 52-week, the stock had traded within the range of $185.55-$319 and is up
more than 46% year-to-date.
Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC) added
0.10% to $19.21 on unusual volumes. The stock downgraded to Market Perform from
Outperform by First Global.
Over the past 52-week, the stock traded within
the range of $17.60-$24.37.
International Business Machines Corp. (NYSE:IBM) lost
3.36% to $138.03. The company said Monday that its third-quarter net income
improved to $3.6 billion or $2.82 a share, from $3.2 billion, or $2.40 a share,
in the year-ago period.
Analysts,
on average, expected the company to report earnings of $2.75 per share on
revenue of $24.12 billion.
Over the
past one month of trading sessions, the stock went up more than 6%.
