Andy Murray has advanced to his first Grand Slam singles finals after knocking off Rafael Nadal in four sets 6-2, 7-6 (7-5), 4-6, 6-4 at the U.S. Open on Sunday.
The match was a continuation from yesterday after play had to be suspended due to weather but Murray showed no signs of letting go of his lead as he took care of business in the fourth set. Murray finished with 21 aces in the match and collected 65 winners and took advantage of an uncharacteristic 40 unforced errors from Nadal.
While Murray has never won a Grand Slam title the 21-year-old did capture the Cincinnati Master searlier this year with a win over Novak Djokovic. Murray reached the quarterfinals at Wimbledon this year and the third round at the French Open as well.
