Silver Stocks Trading Higher

Hecla Mining Company (NYSE:HL) went up 2.42% to $6.76. Yesterday, UBS downgraded Hecla Mining from Buy to Neutral with price target increased from $6.75 to $7.75.

The stock opened at $6.61 and traded within the range of $6.57-$6.91. The stock went up more than 8% year-to-date.  

Pan American Silver Corp. (USA) (NASDAQ:PAAS) added 2.08% to $30.40. Pan American Silver Corp. is engaged in silver mining and related activities, including exploration, extraction, processing, refining and reclamation. The Company’s primary product (silver) is produced in Peru, Mexico, Argentina and Bolivia.

Over the past 52-week, the stock had traded within the range of $20-$31.55.  

Silver Wheaton Corp. (USA) (NYSE:SLW) jumped 0.73% to $26.18. Silver Wheaton Corp. is a mining company, which generates its revenue primarily from the sale of silver. As of December 31, 2009, the Company had entered into 13 long-term silver purchase agreements and two long-term precious metal purchase agreements.

The stock opened at $26.06 and traded within the range of $25.62-$27.72. The stock went up more than 74% year-to-date.

Alexco Resource Corp. (USA) (AMEX:AXU) advanced 4.37% to $5.68. Alexco Resource Corp. operates two businesses: mineral exploration and development in Canada, in Yukon Territory, and under its Alexco Environmental Group division (AEG), the provision of consulting and project management services in respect of environmental permitting and compliance and site remediation and reclamation, in Canada and the United States.
