The 2009 movie The Proposal was a fantastic addition to Sandra Bullock romantic comedy hits. Is it any wonder then that the dynamic duo of Sandra Bullock and the movie’s director, the very talented Anne Fletcher, have agreed to make another romantic comedy? The simple premise of The Proposal involved a pushy boss trying to get her way by marrying an employee after her visa expires so as to not risk deportation back to her hometown Canada. This movie delighted audience members, many of whom could have been immigrants themselves or if not, understood the situation.
Just Fiction
Any employment visa lawyer would be able to blow holes in the basic premise of the movie. The point though is a situation based comedy that works very well. The law says a lot of things in terms of immigration which immigration attorneys can best explain to you, but their superior reasoning would have killed the slap stick humor and romance that this movie tried, and in some cases, brought to the table.
Better Ways than Bullock’s Character
If you are an immigrant applying for a permanent citizen status in this country by trying to acquire a green card, try not to take too many tips from this storyline. There is a better and smarter way to go about it. Meet with your employment visa lawyer and submit your completed application to ensure that it is not rejected and your dream of living in the U.S. is thwarted. Meanwhile, the Fletcher-Bullock combo is eagerly awaited! Perhaps a refreshing new, light hearted movie is what America is clamoring for.
